Another Family Fishing Trip

A couple summers ago my family rented this beautiful cabin in Cadillac, it was on a small lake called pleasant lake. My best friend Jessica came up and stayed with us for a few days that week, and it was so much fun! We brought our boat up with us, so we went out fishing just about every day. My dad and brother caught a couple good sized pike on the first day we went out, so that turned out into a competition for the week to see who could catch the biggest fish.

We ended up spending as much time as we could out on the water, we even bought a tube so that my dad could pull us behind the boat. It was so much fun! As we continued to go out fishing every day I ended up catching a pike as well. It was the first pike that I’ve ever caught, and it was so awesome! I didn’t win the little competition that my dad and brother started, but I still enjoyed the time we had spent together! This lake that we went to was so much fun to just take the boat out for a little ride. It was just so beautiful. There was also a little aluminum boat that was at this cabin that my brother and I paddled around on the water.

Our neighbor next to us on the lake, had a little tiki hut out by the water. It was one of the coolest things that I have seen. His family came over one night and he made drinks out in the little tiki hut, it was funny.

We went to this cabin in the beginning of summer, and my mom bought us some of those Chinese lanterns for us to light while we were up there. So one night we all went out at the end of the dock and lit off one of these lanterns. We were excited to watch it float away but it just floated up a little bit and then fell into the water! We tried again, and the next one did the same thing it was quite disappointing.

Other than all of the little mishaps that happened on this trip, it was one of the best vacations that I have ever been on. I got to spend some wonderful quality time with my family and my best friend. We had so many laughs, and made so many great memories together, fishing is the best when you have your family by your side!

Best Friend Bonding Time

A few years ago my best friend Jessica’s family let me tag along to her grandfather’s cabin up north. I don’t remember the exact city that it was in, but it was close to Petoskey and it was beautiful! It was on such a beautiful clear lake, the water was so amazing! While we were up there we spent most of our time out in the water, when we came home we were as tan as could be. We fished, and we swam, and we also caught some crayfish too! The first day we got up there we hurried up to the upstairs where we would be sleeping and threw our bags down and ran outside to go look at the water. I still cannot believe how absolutely beautiful this place was. After we went to check everything out we decided that it was time for us to go swimming, so we went in and got ready and spent almost all night out in the water.

It was somewhere around the 4^th of July when we went up there, so her dad had fireworks with him. We all sat out around the dock and lit of the fireworks that he had, and we even had one of the Chinese lanterns that we let go too! We were just having a great time, we were sitting at the end of the dock with our feet in the water, and her dad came and shined a light into the water and there were a bunch of gar pike swimming around our feet! It was the scariest thing ever, we were afraid that they were going to bite or toes off! Her dad then decided that he was going to get the pellet gun and shoot the pike, so he tried but didn’t succeed. It was a crazy experience!

The night after that her dad decided that he wanted to go night fishing and see if we could get anything. So we went out on the lake when it was pitch black out and the only light came from the moon, or the flashlights from our phones! We picked a spot to stop the boat, Jessica’s dad wanted to use one of the crayfish that we caught as bait. He picked on up out of the container we were storing them in and it pinched him, “Ouch, you little shit!” is what he ended up screaming. Jessica and I couldn’t help but laugh at him, it was the funniest thing ever! We didn’t end up catching anything that night, but it sure was a great time. That was one of the best memories of summer that I have, and it’s sad because her family sold the cabin so we can never go back now.  But I am glad that we got the chance to go when we could, it was a wonderful experience with wonderful people, and memories were mad that will never be forgotten.
